THE AUTHORS: DAVID AND ANNA KASABIAN

    David and Anna Kasabian are husband and wife, business partners and frequent collaborators who teamed up to write The Fifth Taste: Cooking with Umami.  

    Anna is the author of nine other books, is a regular contributor to Yankee and Coastal Living magazines, and has written extensively for other national and regional publications, including Cooks' Illustrated, Country Living and the Boston Globe.

    David is a lifelong gastronome and food fanatic. He also devoted 28 years to the advertising agency business, more than two decades of that as CEO and Creative Director of Boston's DRK Advertising & Marketing, a pioneering technology marketing firm with clients ranging from divisions of IBM, Xerox and Kodak to some of the most successful start-ups in the computer business. In 2001, he decided to leave the ad business behind and pursue his food obsession, matriculating at the world famous Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, where he graduated with high honors. Today, he works as a professional chef, food writer and food photographer.

    The couple lives on the North Shore of Boston with their golden retriever, Amos.
